Blog Terms & Rules updated.....April 8th, 2010

The terms and rules for the HPFF blogs have been updated. The additions are to clarify existing rules.

New users will have to agree to these terms before creating a blog. Existing users, please check the copy of the terms below, if you do not agree with them please delete your blogs. Continued use of the blog system after the date of this post will signify your agreement with the updated terms.
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this Blog system to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.

1. 12+ Content Only
HPFF Blogs are part of the publicly accessible content meaning no content shared may exceed the 12+ rule.

2. Personal Information
As with any area of HPFF, the sharing of personal information is not permitted. This includes full names, locations, school names, the name of the sports team you're on, pictures, etc. Information that seems benign from post to post can be problematic when considered as a whole, so be careful.

3. Community Content
Most areas of HPFF have a very clear purpose and do not permit anyone to delve into personal matters. With that having been said, the nature of blogs is that they are more personal. Still, HPFF is first and foremost a fanfiction site, so anything you discuss on your blog should bear that in mind. Also, please remember that the HPFF blogs do not permit the posting of content that is unvalidated or in violation of the 12+ Rule (stories, poetry, etc...) The HPFF validators, staff and moderating team reserve the right to remove any material that breaks any of these rules. Blogs are a privilege that can be revoked at any time.We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary.

You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you.
The new 'Kid Friendly' site.....April 1st, 2010

EDIT: It was an April Fools prank!!!!!!!!

As you may have noticed by now, HPFF has become a more kid friendly site.

Due to a surge in recent 'adult' themed stories and members refusing to take any notice of our policy of correctly labelling such stories, we decided it would be easier and safer for our readers to only allow stories suitable for young readers.

The site has been skinned to reflect this and make it more appealing to youngsters.

If you have a story on the site you may find that it has been slightly altered to fit in with the new look. Certain 'adult' words have been replaced and will not show in stories, while a few other words have been spelt in a way to make it easier for children to read. Although I have to point out that due to a coding error with the word censor software, some words have had random letters replaced or added. I am looking into this and should hopefully have the software bug free within the next week or so.

Authors will need to contact staff or post in the forum for details on changing your story.

I would advise you all to check the new Terms of Service and the new 12- rule (which is on the site front page) to familiarise yourself with the new rules, which will hopefully prevent stories being removed from the site when wrongly submitted.

Staff have also recorded a podcast which may be of some help to you.

2. All essay content must conform to forum content rules.
3. All essays must be posted to your HPFF forum blog no later than February 25, 2010.

2. Any length is acceptable.
3. The topic of the essay may be either "What HPFF Means to Me" -or- "What I Have Learned from HPFF". Make sure to title your blog entry one of these topics so we know which category you are entering in.

Winners will be chosen by HPFF staff based on content, appeal and writing style. Points will not be deducted for grammar errors unless it detracts from the reading of the essay. Winners will be announced by the last day of February 2010. We will chose one winner in each of the essay topics (2 winners total). Server upgrade.....February 1st, 2010

Due to continuing space issues, we are adding 2 new drives to our server. This will cause some downtime and maybe a few (hopefully small) site issues.

The work is being done over the next 48hrs or so. I can't be more specific with times than below. (Our servers are based in Michigan USA)

The downtime to put the drive in will be about 10 minutes later tonight. And then there would be one more piece of downtime for maybe an hour either real late tonight if the first copy is done by then, or maybe tomorrow night real late.
